World of Coca Cola
On occasion, hubby and I have an opportunity to go on a what we would call, a Hale Adventure and that is when we just on the spur of the moment decide to do something different. We were both off, because he had a doctor’s appointment and after the appointment we decided to go to a new restaurant in Downtown Atlanta. This restaurant received a couple of great reviews, but we did not feel the same. I believe that the waitress was in a hurry to get us in and out and not to help us have a pleasant experience. Can you guess what restaurant we were visiting?
I would tell you, but we do not want to help promote the place. We felt even worse because that day it was raining off and on, but still relatively warm outside, but too bad it was not as warm on the inside:(
We left the restaurant and decided to enjoy some more time doing something Downtown and since he has never been, we decided to go to the World of Coca Cola. I have been twice before, once during a family reunion and another time when I was working as a mystery shopper.
If you have ever been downtown, there are plenty of parking lots and we managed to find one relatively inexpensive, but required us to walk some and after the meal we had we thought that we could use some exercise.
We saw everything from the Skyview Ferris Wheel, restaurants we will have to come back and try and plenty of people walking to or from work. I saw a funny contradictory site, well not that funny, but it just seemed extremely odd. We were passing this building which was up the way from the World of Coca Cola and I just saw random people taking a smoke break, well after looking all around which is what I tend to do in unfamiliar territory, I noticed that the building was the American Cancer Society building. I could not believe it, but we do it all the time. We are warned about things and still do it anyway. I chuckled as I was trying to maintain a regular heart rate because we were walking fast trying to avoid some of the rain.
We finally arrived:
The promise land and we were ready to be here and partake in all of the exciting things they had in store for us. The cost of relatively decent for what you receive, so we did not mind paying the price (we were looking for discount tickets before we got there).
We took a picture outside of the entrance of the attraction and it was encouraged, because there was an opportunity to purchase a package with all of the pictures taken throughout the day. We entered and first noticed folk art Coke bottle with lots of different colors and sizes of bottles. We then entered the Loft after the group before us cleared out and when you go inside you notice all types of memorabilia from cartoons, to old equipment used to television/magazine ad pictures. This section was narrated and the representative explained the story behind some of the artifacts to us and then allowed time for us to take pictures.
This was one of the recent additions to this section of the tour and we might have to get one. Yes, you are reading it correctly, it is a Keurig Coca Cola Machine and it is totally available for purchase.
After being surprised by that cool contraption, we entered into the Coca-Cola Theater (no pictures/video in this area) and laughed and cried as we watched Moments of Happiness. Truly, go with some tissue because you just might need it. Since being there at least 3 years ago, they added a section, which was Vault of the Secret Formula and supposedly the recipe is secured in the vault. We then went to the Bottle Works section which gave you a behind the scenes look at the bottling process and we noticed that the Coca-Cola Polar Bear was there, but we did not take a picture with him. We left it to the little ones.
Level Two
This was one of our favorite parts, because sometimes I am, but hubby a lot of the times, is a big kid and we enjoyed the 4-D Theater which was about a scientist and his assistant in the Search of the Secret Formula. We had so much fun that we watched it twice (shh don’t tell nobody), but be warned there are movable chairs, small amount of water used and air blown. We then decided to go to the Taste It section which was a trip around the world with more than 100 different beverages and trust me you have to have an acquired taste for some, but most from beverages from other parts of the world were not bad.
My favorite beverage anyway is Cherry Coke, so when I saw that I had to drink a couple of cups (not full, I didn’t want to appear too greedy:))
The cups were made for 100% renewable resource and they ask that you reuse the cups which helps too, but to be honest, you need a new cup to get rid of the taste of some of the beverages before you go and try another one.
After being in the World of Coca Cola for hours, we decided to go ahead and leave, but not before checking out some of the cool goodies in the store. Things from pajamas, tops, bottoms, glassware, baby clothes and even a game of checkers. Yes, a game of checkers. We did make a purchase which will be shown at another time, but this was well worth the time. We had a lot of fun and more than likely will go back (me for my 4th time and him for a 2nd).
Have you been to the World of Coca-Cola? Did you enjoy yourself?
Thank you for reading and God Bless!!
