Theatre Review: ‘da Kink Recap and Afterparty

Theatre Review

Opening night was a success and every night/showing since, so you want to get in to see this awesome play before it leaves Atlanta. The play showing at the Horizon Theatre in Little Five Points, is called ‘da Kink.

The play is written by Trey Anthony who has done quite a bit of work in Canada and is also known for her work as a writer on the Chris Rock Show. You know she has got to be funny if she worked on the Chris Rock Show.

If you want to Know a Woman, Touch her hair is one of the main sayings in the play and it is so true. You never know what a woman has gone through or is going through. It crosses color boundaries, gender and economic lines and every female has themselves or knows someone that has experienced some of the things the women in the play have experienced. Love, hate, friendship, enemies, abuse, strength, weakness and triumph are all in this play, infused with laughter and dance. Every and I mean every part and story from each woman was one that I could relate to and I know you will be able to as well. Trust me you will want to go grouped up with your female friends and/or maybe take your significant other like I did and he could relate because he knew that I have experienced some of it.

The play and the actors were AWESOME!!! This is the first play that I have attended where the entire cast were women. All talented, beautiful, and funny.

After the play we were all invited to the Hamilton Howell House for the afterparty that was catered by Exotic Tropical Catering. See below for the beautiful house and unique pieces in the house as well as the tasty food. There was mini patties, plantains, festivals, fruit, dessert squares, and pina colada jello shots.
