18th Annual World Natural Hair, Health and Beauty Show Overview and Haul(#wnhs)

Let me start off by saying, for those of you who do not know, I have natural hair and the texture is basically 4b which means usually that the curl pattern is much tighter and coily.

I tend to have a challenge with maintaining moisture in my hair after I wash my hair and keep it twisted or braided for a couple of days. The 3rd-4th day, I find my hair dry and itchy, so today I attended the World Natural Hair Show in search of knowledge from different vendors.

My day started off a bit challenging because I had not gotten a lot of sleep before and it had been raining bad the night before, so I figured that it would not be too many people early and I was right. I left home about 8:10am and it took almost an hour to get there. I did go alone, but initially was supposed to go with co-workers and it is cool, because in the natural hair community it is easy to make friends.

There was a line for those of us who purchased tickets on eventbrite which at the time they were at a discount and there was another shorter, much shorter line for those purchasing at the event. For the price of the ticket, it included some workshops that went on in different rooms away from the rest of the show, a children’s corner, social circle (where bloggers and fans could connect), and fashion/hair show. The entire weekend includes various events for an extra fee of course, like comedy show, old school hip hop jam, etc.

There were over 132 exhibitors, but I am not sure how many patrons were there, but I am sure it was easily over (by the time I left) was about 1000. There were many bloggers and Youtubers that I had recognized and there were usually a lot of others that were around them, so I did not get those pics. I did however, get short videos (see www.instagram.com/god4bandme) and please see pics below of hair demos which was cool. There were so many of those this time that I almost wished I did not have my hair braided, but anyway on to the quest to find what I need to do to keep moisture in my hair and/or obtain moisture those times I have my hair braided or twisted for a long period of time.

I checked 1st with the Host of the Show, Taliah Waajid, and was told to use Protective Mist Bodifier.

2nd visit was to, tgin (Thank God It’s Natural), which is a vendor that I have not heard of, but most people said to start with moisture and make sure moisture is layered at each step, so I was told to purchase, Butter Cream Daily Moisturizer, Moisture Rich Shampoo and Triple Moisture Replenish Conditioner.

3rd and final purchase, (that mattered), was from Luster’s You Be-Natural and it was stressed about the need for moisture and layering. With that said, I purchased Smoothing Defrizzing Creme (leave-in), Moisture-lock Curl Lotion, and Curl Shaper Custard (styler) and then a smoother at the end (which I already have).
