Football Season Favorite Menu Items– Big Green Egg
I had the opportunity to attend Hands-On Class – The Ultimate Football Menu in partnership with Culinary Local and as usual I had a ball.
Do you have a party or two you want to host during Football Season? If so, it will not be complete without the Big Green Egg, but beware. Once you use it, you will always use it because you can do just about any and everything you need on the Big Green Egg.
We were greeted by some of the volunteers that led us to the store portion of the Big Green Egg Culinary Center where we were able to make purchases and on top of it, we all were given 10% off because we were attending a class.
As we waited patiently thinking about our purchases, Chef Amanda, opened the door and greeted us all with a smile and invited us to a piece of meat. It was of course cooked on the Big Green Egg and yes as you can imagine it was yummo. Tender, falling off the bowl. Did I mention that it is my favorite way to eat meat? I tried to eat it slowly, but I so had to get seconds, but I did not want to appear greedy, so I waited until some of the other guests partaked:)
Chef Amanda introduced us to the volunteers teaching the class and away we went..
We all were given a handout (tips and that day’s recipes), Big Green Egg pen and notepad to take notes. Speaking of recipes, let me tell you what the menu consisted of:

Chicken on a Throne (my favorite)
Cornbread Pudding
Grilled Veggie kabobs
Bacon and cheddar BBQ sauced Pork Chops
Cheddar Jalapeno Potato Mash
Peach Cobbler (2nd favorite)
We started on the Chicken on a Throne (Beer Can Chicken) and as you probably would suspect some of the guests decided to try the beer first to make sure it was okay to use:)
We put those chickens after they were seasoned on the Big Green Egg and off we went to start our cornbread pudding, pork chops and veggie kabobs. We separated into 3 teams to tackle the tasks faster and it gave everyone a better chance to be hands-on if they wanted.
It was so much fun watching the guests bread the pork chops and putting the veggies on skewers, but it was even more fun watching the guests eat their meals.
Shhh, I have a secret…. Come closer.
