Gospel for Asia’s No Longer A Slumdog Review and Giveaway
Maybe some of you are already aware, based upon seeing the well known movie Slumdog Millionaire, that parts of the movie were imitating real life.
I received a copy of Gospel for Asia’s No Longer A Slumdog for free in exchange for my honest review and you can to and I will show you at the end of my review.
This book was eye opening, heartbreaking and thought provoking. I will start with a statement that was made at the end of the book and that was: Live in the light of eternity. Love God by loving others. Make your life count.
The beginning of the book gives you what I would say a short lesson on the ins and outs of terms used in Southern Asia. Believe you me it does help when you are reading to understand why certain words are being used. This is the story of how K.P. Yohannan’s eyes were opened and heart touched by God to found Gospel of Asia which helps children of Southern Asia who are found on the streets whether being forced into slavery or sex trafficking at an age as early as 4 years old.
It tells how the class you are born into sticks with you (if you are poor you stay poor, live a life of a poor person and will stay there unless there is an intervention (Gospel of Asia), has been one intervention that God has been using to help change the end of some of the children in the area.
There are chapters that discuss the before of some children and the after (which are to say the least interesting). It goes into detail about how some of the children are found on the streets of India, etc.
There are things in America and other areas that we take for granted, like school, clothing, shelter and food. A lot of children are sold to pimps for money to help the remaining portion of the family eat or to help pay bills.
If nothing else, this book will make you kiss your children and thank God everyday that they do not live like some of the children in Southern Asia and DO SOMETHING.
