Savannah almost got me
Traveling and exploring new and fun sites are one of my favorite things to do. It seems that every time we visit somewhere new I fall in love, but I am sure it is just the newness of it. There are a few places so far, that I have hated to leave:
- Maui: my hubby and I were married
- Seattle: it always seems to be gloomy, but I think because one of my favorite television shows’ character lived there Frasier
- Savannah: fast paced slow city
- Punta Cuna: place where I went on my best grown up vacas with my parents
The one that I tell hubby that we can definitely relocate to without too much of an issue is Savannah. Savannah almost got me and I do not appreciate it.Sike……
I had the pleasure to accompany my hubby to Savannah recently and I fell in love and am still in love. The city is fast paced as far as busyness and there is always something to do which I love, but slow in the sense that no one seems to do things fast. It sometimes appeared as if it was a, “as long as I get across the street before the light change I am good, no rushing across for me” type of town. People stroll and take time to look around and enjoy the sights and I enjoyed watching locals and guests do that. I quickly adapted that mindset while I was there. No reason to be in a big hurry. Let me slow down and enjoy this ride.
Since hubby was on a business trip, we did not have to pay for the room and we were actually upgraded to a suite when we arrived, which was the tops. We stayed the Marriott.
and guess where it was? Yep, off the Savannah River.
While he would leave me for the day, I would start planning my day and just made sure I was back so that we can have dinner together. I packed as if I was in Atlanta which was a mistake. It was warmer in Savannah than it was in Atlanta, but thank God I packed with the idea of layering so I started off with a lot of clothes, but by midday I had to start stripping.
I was afforded the opportunity to be able to go on just about any tour I wanted to thanks to some great people in Savannah (you know who you are) and so I toured the city all day, ate at some fun restaurants off the river and then hubby and I hit the town.
Savannah Touring
By the time I took the tour off of the Savannah River, I was sold. Savannah almost got me, between all of the history of the city (good and bad), the great restaurants (every day joints and 5 stars restaurants), and the beautiful landscapes (parks and water), and Tybee Island.
It came to a point of course that the fun had to end and we had to come back to Atlanta, but we were plotting (maybe I can transfer to an office down here) and we can look for a house in Savannah instead of Atlanta. The pull was so bad, that I had spoken with the concierge and he was telling me places and areas to look for houses. If we had stayed a little longer, I swear I would have found a real estate agent:)
We had to get over the excitement of it and think rationally and we decided that we will stay in our area, but just make sure we visit Savannah a couple times a year. Savannah almost got me, physically, but it did get me where it counts, in the heart. #visitsavannah
