7 Best Places To Eat in Mississippi
Trip partially sponsored by Coastal Mississippi. All opinions and reviews expressed are my own. #MSCoastLife #SecretCoast
Food is one thing that for years have brought people together around various tables, and Mississippi is no different. When I hear Mississippi, the first thing that comes to mind is seafood and of course, being part of the South, comfort food. Great tasting food is a guarantee when visiting Mississippi and I am here to share some of the well known places, as well as the hidden gems that you will find locals at day in and day out. Culinary influence from around the globe is found on The Secret Coast, inspired by the seafood and local, fresh ingredients. This was my second visit to Mississippi and I found completely new places to eat, including off the main road near the West Biloxi Beach Boardwalk.
Best Places to Eat in Biloxi
First stop on our food tour, this visit was to most people’s favorite, Hard Rock Cafe in the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel. If you are a music fan, this is the perfect place for you. Lots of memorabilia can be found there, from the Beatles to Lenny Kravitz and more. We are collectors of souvenir glasses and guess what, this visit was no different. We had drinks in an anniversary glass and in return, we were able to take some 50th anniversary glasses home with us. The food was good especially the Bangkok Spicy Shrimp. Yummy.
Beau Rivage Resort and Casino Restaurants
Now how wrong would it have been not to try some of the restaurants within the hotel hubby and I were staying in. Ha ha. The first night at the Beau Rivage, we did not want to go out so we stopped at the Terrace Cafe.
Terrace Cafe had delicious chicken and waffles. The chicken was seasoned perfectly.
The second night, after I ran the streets earlier in the day, on my way back to our room, I noticed a sign for BetMGM mentioning that Monday they were going to have some birria tacos and a drink special. I do not resist sales and it was an offer that I could not refuse. After hubby’s day was over, we came back down to eat. We were disappointed that what we came for wasn’t available, so we ordered some other items. He ordered the Landmass Burger, which won #PNCBestoftheFest and I had the Shrimp Po-Boy. Not bad, but just not what we wanted, but little did we know that the next night’s meal was going to make up for it…..
Imma skip some of the details, but let’s just say, we were able to visit Stalla, thanks to the Director of F & B, and the experience was one of the best we have had in a long time. We will certainly be coming back for another stay soon. All of the staff there, from the Front of the House to the Chef and his team, we were impressed.
Best Places to Eat in Ocean Springs
Part of my itinerary included a wonderful time exploring the beautiful town of Ocean Springs. I researched ahead some of the must see spots which included restaurants that could facilitate my 80% vegan diet. Mosiac was a wonderful stop to make in a fun filled day. International cuisine and crafted cocktails. Staff were friendly and I felt right at home. I had the entire inside of the tapas bar by myself. I enjoyed it truly. Cute decor and tasty food.
Favorite and Hidden Restaurants of the Locals
Jacked Up Coffee Bar is one of the cutest coffee bar that I have seen. Great place to have breakfast and a good cup of coffee. Totally one of hidden gems in Biloxi where the locals are found. While there, a group of men gathered together to catch up on the latest news. Staff were welcoming and helpful. My company was awesome:) What could be better?
Another hangout for locals is Good Karma Cafe is perfect for vegetarians, vegans and those who are gluten free. My lunch partner and I had the plate lunch. It was more than reasonably priced for all of the various food items on the plate. Cinnamon Tea, moving on to the soup and salad, ending with curried seasonal vegetables, basmati rice, tomato chutney and more. The owner is funny. She is very personable and knows her regulars.
Honorable Mentions
Although, I did not visit this go round, but Half Shell Oyster House, was one seafood restaurant visited before and if seafood is on your list, this is one of the places to visit. They have several locations including in Gulfport Mississippi.
There are plenty of restaurants in Mississippi including those that have selections for children, including the ones that I have mentioned and many more.
Here’s to hoping that you will find a new favorite or two amongst my list of 7 best places to eat in Mississippi.
Which restaurant are you looking forward to trying?
