3 Top Christmas Songs

After a couple of days of driving here and there to find the perfect gift for the people we hopefully like, but gotta love, I am drained. I do not even bother to go to the malls. I stick to the strip malls, but they are, like many malls, filled with rude and down right impolite people. The moment I get to my car and turn on my radio, I hear Christmas music and it helps me get past all the filth that I was just slimed with.
Christmas time is here… is a line from one of the most famous Christmas songs out there, but I unfortunately do not hear too many Christmas songs that move me. I like to, as my niece would say, get into my feelings and hear at least one of my favorite songs, but no. There are instead, plenty of songs played, but they tend to be the same ones being played over and over again.
I want to hear about Jesus and Jesus alone. He is the reason for the season, the reason why I live and want to keep living. He is the one that gives me life and so when I turn on that radio, I want to hear songs like:
3 Top Christmas Songs
Mary, did you know? – Pentatonix
This sleeping child you’re holding is the Great I AM is the part that gets me every time. He is indeed the Great I AM and there is none other.
O Holy Night – Celine Dion
Last year around this time, our church put on a Christmas celebration, which included a mime/dance and they used this song. I knew it sounded familiar and then it came to me, I had heard it before on an episode of Frasier. The dad, Martin, was trying to sing this song for a Christmas pageant and it was hilarious, but when Celine does it and sings, Fall on your knees, I tear up instantly. Falling on my knees is the least I can do for my God.
Last, but not least, I know a couple of you out there remember this song:
The Little Drummer Boy – Harry Simeone Chorale
This one is an oldie, but goodie. I loved the good old days when they would play a lot of great Christmas cartoons and the Little Drummer Boy was my favorite. That song always and I mean still to this day, when I hear, Then He smiled at me… makes me tear up and cry. Just the idea that this little boy wanted to give something to the Savior of the World, but he was poor and felt that he did not have anything to offer Him. He gave him all that he had and that was playing for Him and in return he received a smile from the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I would love to receive a smile from the Great I AM, wouldn’t you?
So tell me what are your 3 top Christmas songs? I would love to know.
